Healing Promises
There are great and precious promises scattered throughout the scriptures, including promises of healing.
In this article we are going to take a look at some of these:
‘Oh, the joys of those who are kind to the poor! The LORD rescues them when they are in trouble. The LORD protects them and keeps them alive. He gives them prosperity in the land and rescues them from their enemies. The LORD nurses them when they are sick and restores them to health’ -Psalms 41:1-3
Notice that last sentence; ‘The LORD nurses them when they are sick and restores them to health’
If you were sick, wouldn’t you want the Lord himself to nurse you to health?
‘Let all that I am praise the LORD; may I never forget the good things he does for me. He forgives all my sins and heals all my diseases. He redeems me from death and crowns me with love and tender mercies. He fills my life with good things. My youth is renewed like the eagle’s!’ -Psalm 103:2-5
I love this Psalm as it lists some of the benefits or good things the Lord does for us!
As well as forgiving all our sins, he also heals all our diseases!
‘He sent out his word and healed them, snatching them from the door of death’ -Psalm 107:20
Later on in the gospels we see how this promise comes to pass in the ministry of Jesus. (we will be looking at Jesus’ Ministry during this ’10 Days of Healing’)
‘Surely he took up our pain and bore our suffering, yet we considered him punished by God, stricken by him, and afflicted. But he was pierced for our transgressions, he was crushed for our iniquities; the punishment that brought us peace was on him, and by his wounds we are healed. We all, like sheep, have gone astray, each of us has turned to our own way; and the LORD has laid on him the iniquity of us all.’ -Isaiah 53:4-6
By the wounds of Jesus, we are healed!
‘But for you who fear my name, the Sun of Righteousness will rise with healing in his wings. And you will go free, leaping with joy like calves let out to pasture’ -Malachi 4:2
