In this series; ’10 Days of Healing,’ we’ve looked at how Jesus went about healing the sick and then how this work continued through the Early Church.
But what about us?
Do We Have The Power & Authority To Heal The Sick?
‘When Jesus had called the Twelve together, he gave them power and authority […] to cure diseases, and he sent them out to preach the kingdom of God and to heal the sick.’ – Luke 9:1-2
When Jesus sent out that Twelve, he gave them both power and authority!
‘Heal the sick, raise the dead, cleanse those who have leprosy, drive out demons. Freely you have
received, freely give.’ – Matthew 10:8
They had received that power freely and they were called to give it away freely
‘So they set out and went from village to village, preaching the gospel and healing people everywhere.’ -Luke 9:6
But was that power and authority only for the Twelve?
‘And these signs will accompany those who believe: In my name […] they will place their hands on
sick people, and they will get well.’ -Mark 16:17-18
As we see from this passage, the power and authority to heal the sick is given to all those who believe – not just the Twelve!
‘When the crowd saw this, they were filled with awe; and they praised God, who had given such
authority to men.’ – Matthew 9:8
Isn’t it amazing that God has given such authority to men!
Power = The ability to act
Authority = The right to act/give commands/exercise power
‘I tell you the truth, anyone who has faith in me will do what I have been doing. He will do even
greater things than these, because I am going to the Father.’ –John 14:12
Not only can we do the miraculous things Jesus did, we can do even greater things!
How are you stepping out and using your Kingdom authority and power?
