Me and a few friends have been debating this question over the last couple of weeks. Should we evangelize? What is evangelism? What methods should we use? Is it even important?

For some the word ‘evangelist’ conjures up an image of an insensitive, over-dominant character that shouts at strangers telling them they’re “all going to hell!”

For others it conjures up a tele-evangelist that is out to profit from peoples gullibility- (“Send in £1000 as a free-will donation for your miracle cure!”)

Even the thought of evangelizing people can be off-putting- almost arrogant- “We have all the answers”, or forceful (ramming it down peoples throats)

Some other questions i have been pondering:

Is evangelism the same as outreach?

What’s the difference between evangelism and mission?

Are we all called to ‘witness’ and what does that mean?

Anyone got any thoughts on this subject…
